If a facility is built, modified or decommissioned up to 60 metres on, in, over or under a body of water, a water law permit is required.

Description of the course

you need a permit if you want to erect, extend, significantly alter or decommission a structure on, in, over or under a body of water. This applies within an area of 60 metres around the body of water.

In the city of Munich, this applies to the following bodies of water:

  • Garchinger Mühlbach.

The term "structure" includes, for example:

  • Footbridges, sheds, composting facilities, fences, paving stones, smaller garden sheds that do not require authorisation under building law
  • Buildings, huts, larger garden sheds, etc., which require a building permit (the required water law installation permit is issued together with the building permit by the local building commission)
