Burial ex officio

Deceased persons for whom no burial order is issued are buried ex officio.

Prerequisites

  • No funeral order has been issued.
  • There are no next of kin or the next of kin have predeceased the deceased.

Do I have to organise and pay for the funeral?
Yes, if you are one of the following relatives:
Spouse, child, parent, grandparent, grandchild, sister or brother, niece or nephew, stepchild

Do I have to pay despite disclaiming the inheritance?
Yes, because renouncing the inheritance does not release you from the funeral obligation or the obligation to reimburse costs.

In the anonymous burial ground at the Waldfriedhof cemetery, urns are buried anonymously outside cemetery opening hours and without relatives.

Conclusion of a funeral contract

We offer the complete organisation of a funeral or repatriation. Our services correspond to those of private funeral parlours.

Assumption of funeral costs

In Germany, relatives of deceased persons must make funeral arrangements. In some cases, the Office for Social Security covers the costs.
