Promotion in front of commercial enterprises

Anyone wishing to set up objects in front of their business for presentation and advertising purposes or to organise special events requires a permit.

Course description

The installation of movable furnishings and decorative elements in front of commercial enterprises for presentation and advertising purposes (temporary special use) is permitted on three days per calendar year.

In the case of new business openings and "round" anniversaries from the fifth anniversary of the business, the following activities are permitted on a campaign day: the distribution of flyers and balloons, the free distribution of popcorn, the setting up of a wheel of fortune without a stake, the erection of a pavilion without side walls (maximum 9 square metres), the use of advertising staff (promoters) and the distribution of promotional gifts.

The area for the planned promotion may not be wider than the shop front adjacent to the public street.

Processing time

Usually six to eight weeks

Fees and charges

Between 1.50 euros and 2.25 euros per square metre or part thereof per day.

Plus an administrative fee of 30 euros or more per permit.

The fees are based on No. 31 of the statutes on fees for special use of public roads in the City of Munich (statutes on special use fees); the fee for each group of roads is between €1.50 and €2.25 per square metre or part thereof.
