School trips within the European Union

A school travel list is a recognised travel document for school trips within the European Union and to Switzerland.

Description

A school travel list is a recognised travel document for a school trip within the European Union and to Switzerland (examples: school trip, language trip, graduation trip). It is intended to prevent individual pupils from not being able to take part in the trip because they come from a third country and either

  • do not have a residence permit for Germany,
  • no identity card or passport

or

  • do not have a visa for the country they are travelling to (especially for trips outside the Schengen states)

The student list therefore replaces the residence permit or visa required for travelling for the students concerned. For pupils who do not have their own passport, it is also a passport substitute.

The school certifies the accuracy of the information provided and the consent of the legal guardians of pupils who are not of age by signing the form and affixing the official seal.

The Foreigners Office certifies by signature and affixing the official seal:

  • the accuracy of the details of those fellow travellers who are not citizens of the European Union,
  • the identity of those students (according to the attached photographs) for whom the collection list is to serve as a passport replacement and
  • the authorisation for the re-entry of the fellow travellers to Germany.

In addition, the Foreigners Office certifies, by means of a corresponding note, the suspension of deportation after re-entry for students whose stay in Germany is tolerated. This note serves the safety of the person concerned, as a tolerated stay expires when they leave the federal territory.

If a passport and residence permit are available, the Foreigners Office in Munich will only issue a list of school pupils if they are travelling to a European Union country that is not a Schengen state (Ireland, Cyprus). Bulgaria and Romania currently apply the Schengen regulations to a limited extent, andit is recommended that a school leaver's list be issued for these two countries until they are accepted as full Schengen states.

The student list is sent to the school by post together with the "Additional sheet for fellow travellers".

We will check in advance which pupils need to be entered on the document and inform you of the result by email.
