Water law permit - rainwater infiltration in water protection areas

A permit under water law is required for the infiltration of rainwater into the ground in a water protection area.

Description of the course

The infiltration of rainwater is a so-called "water utilisation" and the groundwater is particularly protected in the water conservation area.

This is why you need a permit under water law so that the authorities can check whether the project is harmless to the groundwater.

Soakaway shafts and soakaway wells are not permitted.

Rainwater from uncoated roof surfaces made of copper, zinc or lead must not be allowed to seep away.

Required documents

All documents are required in triplicate on paper as well as in digital form:

  • Informal application
  • Explanation of the project with rainwater calculation (heavy rainfall) see worksheet DWA-A 138 and leaflet DWA-M153
  • Drainage entry plan (M = 1:100) with sectional and floor plans
  • Site plan M = 1:1,000
