Advise adults (under 21 years of age) on maintenance issues
Adults who are unable to fully cover their maintenance needs from their own resources may be entitled to maintenance from both parents
Description
As a young adult up to your 21st birthday, you are entitled to counselling and support from the Munich Youth Welfare Office in asserting maintenance and maintenance compensation claims against your parents (Section 18 (4) of the German Social Code, Book Eight) if you live in the city of Munich.
We can advise and support you on the following topics in particular:
- Requirements for maintenance claims (neediness, ability to pay)
- Initial calculation of maintenance claims or recalculation of maintenance from the age of majority and further steps to assert the maintenance claim
- Enforcement of the maintenance claim through seizure measures
- Statute of limitations, forfeiture of maintenance arrears and insolvency proceedings
- Social benefits for young adults* in school or vocational training.
