Support for border trees
If you and your neighbours plant new trees on the shared boundary of your properties, you can apply for a grant.
Description
The "Border Tree Initiative" is aimed at garden owners, homeowners' associations and businesses. If you as a neighbour plant a tree on your shared boundary, this contribution to nature conservation and climate protection is subsidised: The tree protection authority will subsidise one tree including the planting costs by 90 percent, up to a maximum of 750 euros. This also applies to unsealing measures that are required as a prerequisite for tree planting.
The tree protection authority offers advice if required.
Prerequisites
- You submit the application before the start of the planting measures.
- You are the owner of the property or an authorised representative.
- The tree planting is voluntary and not based on a legal obligation.
- You have not already applied for or received any other funding for the planting.
- Both neighbours undertake to maintain the tree in the long term in accordance with the funding guidelines.
- The trees are located on the common property boundary or at a distance of up to 2 metres from it.
- They plant native deciduous trees suitable for the location with a minimum trunk circumference of 18/20 centimetres.
Required documents
To submit an application, fill out the form provided and send it to us by post. Remember to also obtain the signature of the neighbouring owner. Please also enclose the following documents with your application:
- Site plan or sketch at a scale of 1:200 with the planting location marked
- Proof of the total costs in the form of at least two binding quotations or detailed cost estimates
- Power of attorney if you are not the landowner yourself
