Sealing a fire brigade access road

Description

Fire brigade access roads and staging areas enable fire and rescue service personnel to effectively fight fires, rescue people and quickly intervene in other hazardous situations. Fire service access routes must be labelled for existing buildings and new construction projects.
The fire service provides advice and information on the creation and sealing of fire service access routes.

Property entrances that are also required for the fire brigade must be properly labelled.

• The signs (DIN 4066 - white background, red border, black lettering "Feuerwehrzufahrt", size 594 mm x 210 mm) must be attached to the right of the driveways at the property boundaries at a height of 2.2 m lower edge to 2.5 m upper edge.

• The signs must be officially labelled. Only when they are sealed do the signs become traffic signs, prohibiting road users from stopping and parking in and in front of fire service access roads in accordance with Section 12 of the German Road Traffic Regulations (StVO).

• However, the fire department can only seal the signs if all parts of the fire service access road have been properly laid out.
