Report endangerment of children and young people

If you wish to report a risk to children or young people, please contact the Sozialbürgerhaus, or the police outside opening hours.

Description

Indications of danger can be

  • Abuse,
  • Neglect,
  • domestic/physical/mental/sexual violence,
  • Breaches of supervisory duties,
  • Emergency situations.

Every report is taken seriously!

In Munich, the district social work/orientation counselling service in the social community centres clarifies reports of endangerment of children and young people.

Every report is clarified in personal contact and protective measures are arranged. Home visits are also carried out if necessary. Counselling and support is offered to parents, children and young people. Depending on the case, outpatient or (partial) inpatient help can be initiated. Those affected are always involved in the process.

If parents or guardians are not in a position to accept help and there is an acute risk to children and young people, the need for protective accommodation/adoption is examined.

If children and young people are at acute risk outside the opening hours of the social centres, please contact the police. The police will initiate the necessary measures in consultation with the Child and Youth Care Centre.

The social welfare centre in whose city region the child lives is responsible. You can make a report in person, by letter, telephone, fax or e-mail.

Questions & Answers

Can I remain anonymous or do I have to give my name?
You may remain anonymous, but it is helpful if you leave us your contact details in case of enquiries. Your details will not be passed on to the family concerned, nor will the fact that you have made a report.

What happens to me as the person making the report if the child is not at risk after all?
If you have made a report to the best of your knowledge and belief, there will be no consequences for you.

Will I find out what happens next and how the family will be helped?
For data protection reasons and to protect the family concerned, we are unfortunately unable to give you any information on this.
