Emergency services and help for homeless people
Are you homeless? Have you come across a homeless person who needs help? Here you will find an overview of contact points and emergency services in Munich.
Description
The City of Munich has a large number of counselling and accommodation facilities in the emergency accommodation system for acutely homeless people. The facilities and accommodation centres are located throughout the city.
In cooperation with the independent welfare organisations, bed spaces are provided in emergency accommodation, accommodation facilities, flexi-homes, clearing houses and housing projectsfor single people, couples and families for temporary accommodation. In addition, the people accommodated are counselled and supported by social workers.
Despite the many services on offer, there are also homeless people in Munich who decide to spend the night outside. Citizens often contact the Lord Mayor or the city administration to draw attention to the plight of these people or to a camp or a sleeping place that is becoming established.
If the city becomes aware of individual homeless people or a permanent encampment, street workers visit the homeless people and offer counselling and support.
The aim of street work is to motivate people in need to accept the offer of help. However, every opportunity to provide help is dependent on whether offers are accepted. Everyone has the right to self-determination, which means that the person concerned must be fundamentally willing to accept help. If people decide to continue sleeping outside and not accept help, this decision must be accepted.
The following links lead to the various services and accommodation options that the City of Munich has available for homeless people.

If you come across homeless men and women in the city, you can recommend the contact points and services in your area listed in the address list. In addition, there are numerous food and clothing banks run by various parishes and monasteries in Munich.
In addition to the emergency services in the address list, there is also the Frauenhilfe München women's refuge, the address of which is kept secret. Women affected by domestic violence and their children can find accommodation here. Call them to find out whether it is possible to take them in.
If you come across a person who is helpless or unresponsive, please call the police (110) or the emergency number (112).
