Open a snack bar

If you want to open a mobile snack bar and operate it at different locations, you need a travelling trade licence.

Description

You must observe the hygiene regulations and comply with fire safety regulations.

Site licence
The City of Munich does not authorise mobile snack stands on public roads outside of events (e.g. Christmas markets). You can only operate them on private property during the statutory shop opening hours. To do so, obtain a private-law licence from the owner of the property.

Authorisation under commercial law
If you want to open a mobile snack stand, you need a travelling trade licence. You can apply for this at the district administration department - trade authority. The travelling trade licence authorises you to operate throughout Germany.

You will only receive a travelling trade licence if Munich is your main place of residence or company headquarters.

The trade authority will check your reliability and obtain information from the Federal Central Criminal Register and the Central Trade Register, among others. If the licence can be granted, you will receive a notification for collection.

You must be able to show the original or a certified copy of the travelling trade licence on request when you carry out the commercial activity.

Food and fire safety regulations must always be observed.
