Trade fair, market, exhibition - Public road surface

Anyone wishing to organise a trade fair, exhibition or market on public thoroughfares and claim market privileges for this purpose requires a permit.

Description

The so-called market privileges include, for example, exemptions from the law on shop closures or public holidays or participation without a travelling trade licence.

You must apply for a licence in writing.

You also require an extra event licence for the use of public thoroughfares. Please refer to the information on the page "Outdoor events in public places".

Deadline:
The application should be made at least six weeks before the planned date.

Formal safety concept:
Under certain conditions, you must draw up and agree a formal safety concept for your event.

Time limit:
The event may last a maximum of four weeks.

Special responsibilities:

  • For the Munich weekly markets and the Magdalenenfest, your contact is the municipal department.
  • For the Auer-Dulten and the Christmas market on Marienplatz, your contact is the Department of Labour and Economic Affairs (Tourism Office).

Required documents

  • Fully completed form for the registration of trade fairs, markets and exhibitions (available for download)
  • fully completed form for the authorisation of an event on public thoroughfares (available for download)
  • Agreement on the use of the event area
  • Type and wording of the public invitation to tender used to attract exhibitors
  • Provisional list of exhibitors (at least twelve participants - excluding catering stands - each with name, address and product range)
  • Wording of the conditions of participation
  • Proof of personal reliability of the organiser: certificate of good conduct and extract from the central trade register (for submission to the authorities)
  • precise site plan of the event showing all sales stands, stages, other structures, escape and rescue routes
  • Details of the front metres of the sales facilities

Fees

130 Euro - 920 Euro for fixing (depending on the number of event days)

Additional fees are charged for the event licence.
On public thoroughfares, additional special usage fees are charged based on the front metres of the sales facility.
