Connections that are no longer required must be permanently sealed.
A temporary closure may be necessary to secure the excavation pit.
connections must always be sealed before concreting bored pile walls to prevent concrete from flowing into the sewer!
Required documents
- Declaration on the closing of inlet pieces on the municipal sewer that are no longer required
- Site plan on which the connections that are no longer required are marked
Questions & Answers
there are several reasons why connecting sewers that are no longer required should be sealed at the inlet to the municipal sewer. Protection of the sewer against soil, protection of the sewer against flowing concrete, sealing of open pipes against the escape of wastewater (protection of excavation pit, protection of groundwater). Sealing on the property side is not sufficient, as wastewater can escape from a leaking connecting sewer and groundwater can penetrate. In addition, sewers that no longer flow provide a refuge for rats and other animals.
property owners are responsible for ensuring that sewer connections that are no longer in use are properly closed.
the sewer-side closure of connecting sewers is carried out by employees of Münchner Stadtentwässerung.
as a rule, it is possible to temporarily close a connection to secure the construction site and sewer during construction work. If a temporary closure is desired, this must be noted in the "Declaration on the closure of inlet sections no longer required on the municipal sewer". In the case of pipe sewers in particular, once permanently closed inlets can no longer be opened. However, we recommend that connecting sewers that are to continue to be used after the end of construction are secured on the property side if possible. This eliminates the costs for the closure by MSE. In addition, unintentional closure of the connecting sewer by concrete running into it is prevented.
