The entire area within the Mittlerer Ring is an environmental zone. You may only drive in the low emission zone with a valid green sticker.

Description

In Munich, the entire area within the Mittlerer Ring is a so-called low emission zone. You are only allowed to drive in the low emission zone if you have a valid green sticker on your vehicle. The Mittlerer Ring is also part of the low emission zone: Map of the low emission zone

The sticker is not only valid for Munich, but for all low emission zones in Germany. The green sticker is only valid for the vehicle with the licence plate number shown on the sticker. Electric vehicles also require a green sticker.

Important

  • The sticker must be clearly visible on the inside of the windscreen.
  • All cars, buses, motorhomes and lorries wishing to enter the low emission zone require a sticker.
  • Residents, commuters, removal vans, tradesmen and foreign vehicles wishing to enter the low emission zone also need a sticker.
  • Violations of the sticker requirement cost an 80 euro fine.

Stricter entry and transit regulations apply for diesel vehicles: exemption authorisation to enter the low emission zone

Prerequisites

You can only obtain the fine particle sticker from the vehicle registration office as part of a registration or transfer. In all other cases, you can obtain a green environmental badge from all vehicle inspection organisations (such as DEKRA, GTÜ, KÜS or TÜV) as well as from all garages that are authorised to carry out emissions tests.
