Notarisation of up to 5 documents

With an official notarisation, we confirm with our seal and signature that the copy we have made corresponds to the document you have submitted.

Description

We frequently certify school reports, ID documents, employment references, licence to practise medicine or doctoral certificates, for example.

Only the entire document can be notarised - not parts or specific pages. On request, you can also receive several copies of the required notarisation.

Differentiation: Official and public notarisation

  • The legal requirements authorise the registration authority to officially certify documents, but do not oblige it to do so. Notarisations are therefore exclusively at the discretion of the authority.
  • The registration authority is not authorised to officially certify documents. Public notarisation is generally reserved for notaries in accordance with the Notarisation Act.

We are switching to a new appointment system.

Please note therefore:

Prerequisites

You or a person authorised by you (no written power of attorney required) must come in person for a notarisation. You will need an appointment for this.

We may only provide a notarisation if the document was issued by a German authority or if you have the document notarised because you need to present it to a German authority or public institution.

For example, we are not authorised to notarise

  • Documents in a foreign language without a German translation. For a German translation of documents, you must contact a publicly appointed and sworn translator.
  • Private documents that are to be used privately, such as documents relating to inheritance and family law or financial documents. In this case, notarisation by a notary is recommended.
  • Notarised copies cannot be made of birth, marriage and death certificates. These documents will bereissuedby the registryofficeat the place of the eventif required.
  • Copies of cadastral registers and extracts from a cadastral map series. Notarisation is carried out by the surveying and land registry office.
  • Driving licences. Authentication is carried out by the driving licence authority.
  • Weapons licences, hunting licences and fishing licences. Notarisation is carried out by the weapons authority.

Required documents

  • The original document. (If you only have a copy and no original, we can only use the notarisation to confirm conformity with the copy submitted to us.
  • For foreign-language documents: German translation by a publicly sworn or recognised translator.

Please do not bring your own copies. We only make all copies to be notarised ourselves.
