Household certificate

The household certificate is an official confirmation of the registration data of your family members entered on the form.

Description

You can apply for the household certificate in writing (by post, fax, e-mail) or in person. You will need an appointment for a personal visit. You can request another person with power of attorney to collect the household certificate for you.

This certificate is required for other authorities, for example if you are applying for child benefit, unemployment benefit or exemption from tuition fees. You can usually obtain the forms from the relevant authorities.

The applications can only be processed if you are registered in Munich.

Required documents

If you are coming in person:

  • Identity card or passport
  • completed application form from the requesting authority (if available)

If you apply for the certificate in writing:

  • completed and signed application form or informal letter stating that you require a household certificate
  • Proof of payment (carbon copy or copy of the remittance slip does not count as proof of payment)

Incoming applications cannot be processed without proof of payment.

If you authorise another person:

  • Your written authorisation to apply for and receive the household certificate
  • Your ID and the ID of the authorised person, each in the original
  • application form from the relevant authority, completed and signed by the person making the application
