If you are organising a non-commercial concert series in smaller music venues or music festivals, you can apply for funding.
Description
The City of Munich is awarding a total of 90,000 euros (subject to the City Council's decision in December 2024 on the City of Munich's budget for 2025) in funding for programme support for non-commercial concert series in smaller music venues or off-locations of comparable size and pop music festivals to be held in 2025. Funding in the amount of 10,000 euros or 15,000 euros or 20,000 euros can be applied for.
This funding is intended to support both concert series and music festivals of all genres of pop music, which are dedicated in particular to programmes outside the so-called mainstream and significantly involve Munich artists in the programme.
The Department of Culture would like to help musicians of all genders to shape the Munich pop music scene. So far, men have been significantly overrepresented. This call for applications is therefore explicitly aimed at people of all genders.
The aim of the programme is based on a broad understanding of pop music - this includes all genres of pop music such as hip-hop, metal, reggae, techno, blues and all its sub-genres in every form.
Since 2022, pop music programme funding has also been supplemented by the independent "Pop Music Event Grant". This is also aimed at Munich event organisers. Smaller amounts of funding are awarded at short notice for event formats in the field of pop music.
To the pop event grant
The deadline for applications was 2 May 2024, 11.59 pm
The award of the pop programme funding is expected to be announced in August or September 2024.

- Regardless of their legal form, event organisers are all those who are involved in the organisation, conception and implementation of concerts and/or festivals, regardless of whether they are musicians, cultural associations, collectives, DJs or professional, full-time organisers in the pop music sector. Proof of authorisation to represent must be provided on request.
- Munich musicians are significantly involved in the programme. Creative approaches are particularly welcome.
- Institutionally funded organisations are not eligible to apply.
- A special requirement for the funding of programme series in music venues: The largest event space used must not exceed a visitor capacity of 500 people.
