Medical certificate for carrying narcotics

If you are carrying medically necessary anaesthetics with you when travelling, you can have your medical certificates or attestations authenticated.

Description of the course

Please study the following information carefully before booking an appointment.

The medical certificates or attestations issued for carrying medically necessary anaesthetics, especially when travelling, can be authenticated. It will be checked whether the issuing doctors are properly registered with the Medical District and District Association (ÄKBV) for the city of Munich and the online appointment booking will be activated on Monday (in the morning) for the following week.

Prerequisites

The following points must be observed when issuing or notarising:

  • The issuing doctor must be duly registered with the Medical District and District Association (ÄKBV) in the city of Munich.
  • The original medical certificate for carrying narcotics must be submitted. A printout or digital submission of the certificate is not sufficient.
  • The medical certificate must always be stamped and signed by the issuing doctor (no signature "on behalf of" or "by proxy"). The name of the doctor must be included in the stamp.
  • You are strongly advised to clarify the legal situation in the destination and transit countries you are travelling to before starting your journey. Please contact the diplomatic representation of the country you are travelling to for more information and the Health Department cannot guarantee that you will be able to take narcotics or medically prescribed cannabis with you when travelling.

Required documents

  • Original of the medical certificate or attestation with stamp (including name stamp if applicable) and signature of the issuing doctor.
  • Identity card or passport
  • If it is not possible to appear in person, a person can be authorised. This person requires:- a written power of attorney- a copy of the identity card/passport of the person granting the power of attorney- the identity card/passport of the authorised person

Online appointment bookings are currently activated on Monday mornings for the following week.

Fees and charges

15 euros per doctor and trip, which is notarised.
