Access to files: residence, naturalisation or citizenship
In order to assert your legal interests in residence, naturalisation or citizenship proceedings, you can obtain access to the files.
Description
You can request access to the file online or by post. We provide the contents of the file digitally on a data carrier. We will notify you when we have created your data carrier and you can collect it from us. If you would like us to send you the data carrier by post, we will send it to you by registered post.
Prerequisites
- The right to inspect files only exists if knowledge of them is necessary in order to assert or defend your own legal interests.
- You can either apply to inspect the files yourself or authorise another person to do so.
- It is only possible to inspect the files if you live or have lived in Munich.
Required documents
- If you are represented by another person, for example by a lawyer: Power of attorney and identification document of the authorised person
- For collection by employees of a lawyer's office: Sub-authorisation or letter from the law firm with official photo ID
- If sent by post: Identity document (national passport, passport substitute or identity card)

It is not possible to inspect files at our offices.
In principle, it is not possible to obtain a hard copy of the file.
