Event authorisation - Public streets and squares
Anyone wishing to organise a public event outdoors on public streets and squares requires a permit.
Description
Typical examples of events requiring a permit are street festivals, stand-up concerts (if more than six people are performing), sporting events, cultural events, information events, processions or church events.
Formal security concept:
Under certain circumstances, you must draw up and agree a formal security concept for your event.
Serving food and drinks:
If alcoholic beverages are served, a temporary catering licence (permit) may also be required.
Structures/podiums:
You require a building permit for permanent structures. (Art. 74 of the Bavarian Building Code -BayBo-)
If so-called "temporary structures" (Art. 85 BayBo, booth, tent, stage) are erected, the building supervisory authority must be notified in advance and the inspection book must be submitted.
Insignificant temporary structures are exempt from the requirement for an inspection book and notification. These are deemed to be stalls, podiums and similar subordinate structures with a size of less than 75 square metres or a height of up to five metres, which do not have to bear any major loads or which do not pose any danger to the general public.

Special use permit:
For events for which you do not require an event permit, a special use permit may still be necessary.
As the organiser, you must undertake to cover any costs incurred, for example for waste disposal and traffic signage.
Obligation to avoid and separate waste
Please contact the waste management company for information on the obligation to avoid and separate waste.
Please note that in Munich there is a ban on disposable waste at public events.
Further information on the city's ban on disposable waste can be found on theMunich Waste Management Authority's website at.
Special requirements apply to pedestrian zones and historic squares.
Application deadline:
The application must be submitted at least two months before the planned date of the event.
Prerequisites
The most important requirements for a permit are that it is a public event, the street/square has little traffic, no public transport (tram, bus) runs there, no (product) advertising or product sales take place and no admission is charged.
