Event registration - private property and urban green spaces

An outdoor event on private property must be registered. An event on a municipal green space requires an exemption licence.

Description

The authorities can impose special conditions to ensure that the event runs smoothly (e.g. fire protection, noise protection, paramedics, food hygiene).

There are also events that must be expressly authorised (not just registered) by the authorities. You must observe the authorisation requirement in these cases:

  • if the registration deadline of at least one week has not been met
  • for all motor sport events
  • for events with more than 1000 visitors (unless the venue has a licence for the number of visitors)

Formal safety concept:
Under certain conditions, you must draw up and agree a formal safety concept for your event.

Distribution of food and beverages:
A catering permit (temporary catering permit) may also be required for the serving of food and beverages.

Structures/podiums:
You require a building permit for permanent structures. So-called "temporary structures" (booth, tent, stage) must be reported to the building supervisory authority in advance. This does not apply to insignificant temporary structures with an area of less than 75 square metres and a height of less than five metres, which do not have to support large loads or which do not pose a danger to the general public.

Obligation to avoid and separate waste
Please contact the waste management company for information on the obligation to avoid and separate waste.

Please note that in Munich there is a ban on disposable packaging at events on public grounds.

Further information on the city's ban on disposable waste can be found on theMunich Waste Management Authority's website at.

Anyone wishing to organise a non-public/private event outdoors on private property must also register the event under certain conditions. We recommend contacting the Events and Meetings Office by telephone or e-mail in individual cases.

Application deadline:

  • Events on private property:
as early as possible, at the latest one week before the event
  • Events on municipal green spaces: two months before the planned date

Required documents

  • Registration for public outdoor entertainment events on private property and in municipal green spaces
