Name change in the vehicle documents

If the name of the person or the company name to which a vehicle is registered changes, this must be entered in the vehicle documents.

Description

You must apply for your name change locally. This is not yet possible online.

to make an appointment online, you must first select a contact point in the contact section.

Prerequisites

Bring the complete vehicle documents with you (or an authorised person) to your appointment. A power of attorney is not necessary if the authorised person has all the documents with them.

Required documents

  • Registration certificate part I (vehicle registration document)
  • Registration certificate part II (vehicle registration document)
  • Identity card or passport
  • Test report or entry in the vehicle registration certificate regarding a valid general inspection
  • For commercial vehicles: safety inspection

for commercial vehicles:

  • Registration certificate Part I (vehicle registration document)
  • Registration certificate part II (vehicle registration document)
  • amended business registration (business re-registration)
  • Extract from the commercial register (not older than 3 years from issue)
