The Bundestag election will take place on 23 February 2025. Anyone who is eligible to vote can vote in the polling station or apply for a postal vote.
Description
You can apply for postal voting documents in various ways. Please decide which method you prefer. You cannot submit an application over the phone!
We will send out the postal voting documents as soon as we have received all the necessary documents. This may be shortly before the election. This is independent of how early you submit the application. You bear the risk of receiving the postal voting documents on time. The electoral office has no influence on the timely receipt of the documents by post.
Please note: If the postal voting documents are to be sent to a different address, please enter this address in addition to your home address.

You can apply for postal voting documents online in good time before the election. Please note that if you submit your application shortly before election day, it can no longer be guaranteed that the postal voting documents will arrive by post on time. - Applying by post
If you would like to request the postal voting documents by post, please use the back of the election notification. Send the request as early as possible.
Alternatively, there is an application form available for download.
Please let us know by the Monday before the election at the latest if youwould like toreceivethe postal voting documents by post.If we receive your application later, we cannot guarantee that the documents will be delivered on time. -
Collect in person
You can also collect your postal voting documents in person two to three weeks before the election. You can do this at the district administration office. The exact address can be found on your election notification. You can also collect the documents from the district inspectorates. Collection is possible until 3 pm on the Friday before the election. You can fill in the postal voting documents directly on site and drop them in a ballot box. -
Applying for postal voting documents with a proxy
If you would like to collect or apply for postal voting documents by proxy for another person, there are a few things to bear in mind.
If you apply for a postal vote: Take care of your polling card! You will not get a replacement if you lose it.

We will send the postal voting documents to your place of residence. Please enter the address where you are in addition to your main place of residence in Munich.
Please note: Mailing times abroad are often longer. This also applies to postage from abroad.
Remember when you apply for postal voting documents: You bear the risk of sending them abroad! The electoral office has no influence on the timely receipt of postal voting documents abroad.
The documents can probably only be sent out in February. If you have requested the postal voting documents in advance and have not received them after eight days (in the seventh calendar week), please contact the electoral office.
Please contact us by the Monday before the election at the latest if you would like to receive the postal voting documents by post. If we receive your application later, we cannot guarantee that the documents will be delivered on time.
You can collect your postal voting documents from the district administration office or one of the district inspectorates by 3 pm on the Friday before the election.
If you want to change the polling station, you must apply for a polling card with postal voting documents.
You can use the polling card to go to any polling station in your constituency.
Please note: You cannot hand in the postal voting documents in our polling stations on election day! However, you can go to the polling station with your polling card if you have a valid ID with you.
Postal voting documents must be returned to the electoral office by 6 pm on election Sunday at the latest.
Use the official letterboxes and special drop-off points on the election weekend. You can post your postal ballot there until 6 p.m. on election Sunday.
Please note: You cannot hand in your postal voting documents in our polling stations! However, you can go to the polling station with your ballot paper if you have a valid ID (passport/ID card) with you.
