The Munich Employment and Qualification Program (MBQ) aims to promote professional and social integration into the labor market.
The MBQ offers migrants and refugees diverse opportunities and free services. Refugees have been a part of the labor market program’s target group from the very beginning and can be found in all funding areas.
For this reason the MBQ is continuing to offer existing and proven projects, is adapting to current developments, and reacting with new projects and supporting measures.

Our services for international students, skilled workers and young professionals:

All services are free, primarily online, and can be used flexibly regarding time.

The ReDI School of Digital Integration offers Ukrainians and other refugees courses in digital skills to prepare them for starting work.
The courses are suitable for beginners and more advanced participants aged 11 to 60+.
In addition to digital courses, the ReDI School also offers career support services and a large business network to provide optimal support for those starting work.

More about the Information Center
The Information Center for Migration and Employment is the main point of contact and advice for EU citizens who are new to Munich. The center offers consultations in numerous languages: German, Bulgarian, Romanian, Turkish, English, Spanish, Portuguese, Ukrainian. The advisory center, with its own cafe, is located in the city center at Sonnenstraße 12a. The aim is to help people look for and start regular employment.The Information Center has steadily expanded its services since the project started in 2012. Alongside advice on precarious working and living conditions, the center has cooperated closely with the Employment Agency since mid-2018 to actively place people in socially insured jobs. The center is also a point of contact for companies offering jobs in the area of unskilled labor. It maintains a company database for both unskilled labor positions and socially insured jobs. Day laborers are also sought out, made aware of the center’s services, and prepared for possible jobs.

The Information Center is the main point of contact and advice and is important in opening doors to Munich’s labor market for those who have little knowledge of German and few qualifications.
Working in Munich
The “Working in Munich” information brochure is aimed at people who have come to Munich from other EU countries, have little knowledge of German, and are looking for work. The brochure contains key information on living and working in Munich. It is available in German, English, Ukrainian, Romanian and Bulgarian. You can request the print version by contacting aarbeitsmigration@awo-muenchen.de, while the digital version can be found in the publications database.
Additional services
Refugees aged under 25 can make use of special youth programs, for example the Bildungszentrum Berufseinstieg, which helps people find internships and prepare for vocational training, and also offers task force 4 educational advice and skills assessment.
Refugees older than 25 can access occupation-oriented working opportunities in social enterprises via the “Schulter an Schulter” (“Shoulder to Shoulder”) model project.
The model project offers occupation-oriented working opportunities in social enterprises to refugees aged over 25. The participants discover various occupations and how organizations work in practice, expand existing knowledge, receive tuition in the social enterprises, and can take part in a German course at the same time.
The preparatory work experience is available in various disciplines, including commercial and technical trades, sales, recycling, and gastronomy.
Target group: asylum seekers aged over 25 who are resident in the City of Munich, if possible with German language knowledge at A1 level.
The project is run in cooperation with the Munich Employment Agency and the Department of Social Services’ Housing and Migration Office. You can find further information here presentation.
