Exclusive presentation

Mayor Katrin Habenschaden opened the awards ceremony, which this year, due to the coronavirus pandemic, took place on a small scale at the Goldberg Studios. Kurt Kapp presented the awards on behalf of the Department of Labor and Economic Development.

Eight graduates of the fashion- and design-focused institutions Akademie Mode & Design and the Deutsche Meisterschule für Mode/Designschule München presented their collections in advance.

An independent, expert jury met for several hours on the morning of the ceremony and selected winners on the basis of criteria such as underlying concept, use of materials, cut design, sustainability, and commercial potential.

The expert jury consisted of Doris Hartwich, owner of the HARTWICH label, Nadia Tschenett, PR Manager of Allude, Annette Röckl, Managing Director of ROECKL Handschuhe & Accessoires, Mirjam Smend, CEO of GREENSTYLE munich, and Adrian Runhof, Managing Director of Talbot Runhof.

To raise awareness of the awards, interested members of the public were again invited to vote. For this purpose, the 2022 nominees were given an additional task of creating an “upcycling collection outfit” made of, for example, residual material, old clothes, and returns.

Theresa Petz won this year’s online voting on muenchen.de for her upcycling outfit “Die böse Stiefschwester”. She thus won two of the highly coveted awards, receiving an additional 2,000 euros in prize money and the Publikumspreis.
